How to fit the sewing pattern and the dress for your size or style

This course looks deeper into pattern and dress fitting, a common area of interest from our previous dress-making courses. Based on previous experience, we have decided to split this course into 2 sessions. During the 1st session, you'll get to learn about pattern fitting so that you could take this knowledge home and start experimenting. At the 2nd session, you'll go through the muslin fitting process on the modified pattern and ask any follow up questions you may have.

The small workshop size ensures valuable one-to-one teacher and participant time, allowing maximum engagement and assistance.

Having basic dressmaking knowledge opens the gate to creativity, it allows you to make your own unique creations. Understanding the fitting process and being able to alter your pattern and garment is key to creating the perfect garments!

The course program includes:

• How to measure and relate patterns to your body shape

• How to change the pattern

• How to fit garments on your body

You will gain practical knowledge about:

• Proper body measurements

• Ease

• Identify fitting problems

• Pattern alterations

• Tissue fitting and muslin fitting

• Fitting methods on the body

• Different garment specifications from the point of fit

• Alter or fit existing garments

This is a practical course with live demonstrations and time to practice. We encourage you to bring your own pieces you wish to change and we will guide you through step by step. Also, if you are rather interested in altering your existing garments this course will give you a solid base to do it right.

All equipment and some materials will be provided.
